A word of advice to those who want to take part in performances next time: try not to get a director who rehearses EVERY DAY for 2 weeks before the show, with each rehearsal taking 3-5 hours. Else for the next week or so you'll have approximately the same amount of sleep per night, as you flail wildly trying to read/do all the homework that you should have but didn't.
Ha, seriously though, I don't think the show could have been as successful if we didn't rehearse that much. So I guess sometimes you don't have a choice. All went well for the show by the way, the whole cast was really happy, and the DVDs coming out soon. I'm definitely getting a copy =).
Unfortunately, I have no entertaining stories about hormone-raging people in libraries this time, by virtue of the fact that I actually try to work at home nowadays cos its too darn cold to go anywhere else (average temperature this week has been approx -8 deg C). What I do have, however, are these interesting snippets from Shir who has tried to domesticate herself lately.
Shir: Allan, help.
Me: What?
Shir: The stove is making funny noises and I don't know what's going on.
(I get up to check). 30 seconds later...
Me: Shir, that's just water from the bottom of the pan evaporating.
---------
Shir: (fills pot with water, turns on stove, dumps noodles in) Hey Allan, are you supposed to wait for the water to boil before putting in the noodles?
Me: Yes.
Shir: Crap. Whatever.
Cooking at home is always so fun.

CUSA (Chinese Undergraduate Students' Association) Show tomorrow!! Or later today, to be more exact. Just got back from rehearsal at 1.30 am, have to be back at 1 pm tomorrow cos we sucked big time in Act 2 and of course the show is at 8 pm.
We are so screwed.
Still having problems with the stunt scene too, just cant seem to get the momentum to back flip over on stage... guess I'll just have to focus more and hopefully all will go well tomorrow (and, of course, I get to walk off stage with both legs intact). As with all things it's nice that the show is FINALLY here so we can just get it over with and get back to normal life (albeit about 1 week of homework behind), but I guess I'll miss being busy and having rehearsal everyday and just being able to see people like Adam, Gary, Peng, Chris etc all the time. I do, however, have a sneaky suspicion that I'll be too holed up in the library for the week following this desperately catching up to miss everyone overly much. Besides, I think Mr. Hobbes has other plans for me.
Oh well.

9 days, 1 academic week into the New Year, and already this quarter has all the trappings of another nightmare 9 weeks ahead. 5 papers. 3 finals, one on the very last day of finals week. And, of course, an incessant load of weekly assignments. The restfulness of Spain (which was marvelous, by the way) seems to be fading fast... I wonder when I'll have to look at pictures to remember this trip.
Don't mind me though. I'm just sore from having rehearsal every single *bleep* day and being expected to do full stunt work. 1 more week to showtime, then it'll all be over.
Back to work.
